    Humidity too high for flowering

45 - 50% is a great humidity for flowering. You want higher for veg - about 60% is good. You can lower humidity with a dehumidifier. I don't know your setup but you could dehumidify the intake air and make sure exhaust air went into a different area - but really 45-50% is fine.

    Banana tea question

Bananas are high in potassium and you can boil the peels about four in a quart of water (or one banana), strain it, dilute it (say 4:1) with water and you've given your flowering plants a nice boost of available K just when they need it.

    Organic Russet Mite Control

What have you tried so far? I haven't ever had to battle these yet but first thoughts for me would be my usual go to - neem oil and then other oils such as dr bronners soap with lavender oil and maybe spinosad if those didn't work. If I had to go very toxic to get rid of them, I'd probably pull...

    Getting good at growing males?

Seeds are not predetermined on sex...the environment has an effect on whether the seed expresses as male or female. High stress leads to more males. So control temp, humidity, and color of light (more blue for veg...don't just use flowering lights for the whole grow) to give the best environment...

trying to do some trainwreck outdoors but no flowers yet

I don't know what to tell you but I'm growing trainwreck and put it outside as a clone in May after a couple of weeks inside and it's about 5 foot+ tall and looking gorgeous. Of my three outdoor plants, the trainwreck started flowering earliest. It's not as physically large of a plant as my...

    Decisions Decisions Decisions...

I've only ever grown the Chernobyl of the three above...although I would really like to try Vortex as well... I grew mine outdoors - greenhouse in soil - and the plant became as described above tremendous and with multiple towers of buds. The smoke is pretty much as described too - light citrus...

Best time to water a plant outdoors is?

She needs more water. If she wilted, you have stressed her. You can always use larger pots so she has more reservoir to draw upon...or just water more/more often.

IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!

How high is the space? You need to figure (generally) about a foot for the pot, half foot for the fixture, one and half foot for the distance between canopy and bottom of the fixture = 3 ft You subtract that number (3ft in this case) from the height of the space and you've got the height of the...

    First time DIY LED grow

From the gentleman himself: Lighting is 98 LEDs on 1-1/4" channel aluminum with 2 fans that keep them cool and provide lots of air on the canopy. Channel aluminum is a great heatsink. If you add a pressurized fan that fits in the aluminum (ala stevesleds.com) channel you can carry...

IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!

It's not easy to get more than a gram per watt. I do like and use Kessils myself but you'd still have do better than a gram/watt to get a lb even with the Kessil. If you are an experienced and excellent grower and transition easily to LED lighting....maybe...

help me fight my powdery mildew

I fight PM with several products. Serenade is good, as is Neem oil and milk. I rotate the products and use them every 2 -3 days if I see PM. You'll have to spray under the leaves and all over the plant as it's only good on what it touches. BTW all three of those products are organic and are safe...

Jeff Lowenfels, "teaming with microbes" what does RIU think?

Teaming with Nutrients isn't really hoeing any new territory. It's a good basic botany book with a little on the practical side. I enjoyed the read but not as much as Teaming with Microbes where I was learning a new paradigm; that's always more exciting. Of course anything with chemistry in it...

    Super soil amendments

Basic soil mix - 1/3 sphagnum peat most (home depot), 1/3 perlite (or other aeration amendment like rice hulls) and 1/3 quality compost. The key here is a QUALITY COMPOST. Read that again. If you haven't made it, you will pay good money for it...do NOT cheap out on the compost! I have my own...

    Best LEDs today? Share info!

Yes, it should work nicely. I have three diy LED strips using Steve's square tubing and fan. They work great and are quiet. I have two double tube at 30" length with 15 XMLs (so one 30" section handles 8 XMLs) driven at 2100 mA...so about 6.6W ea...and it's just warm to the touch. Personally, I...

IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!

The learning curve is always fun but at least if you are paying attention it's almost straight up. :) Blackstars are really best known for being cheap and breaking within a year. It doesn't take much to veg so I wouldn't be too impressed with good veging. You haven't said anything (or I missed...

    $500ish LED budget..

Short grow height, it would be hard to beat Hans...and he JUST released his new panel with even better LEDs and a couple white ones (I like having a little white light for filling in spectrum). If you do go with the one tall tent though, look harder at area51...the panel will penetrate farther...
