    Buddies, side-light and under-canopy LEDs

A Meanwell HDR-15-24 would fit perfectly. I'm using an HDR-30-24 for my two red strings. Nice little driver, with acceptable efficiency (89%). Cheap too! (I paid $15 for the 30w.) Only "problem" I have with it is that it's designed for rail-mounting, so I'm going to have to get creative to...

LED strip Lords. I need your guidance.

I wouldn't be too concerned that the strips aren't using legit LM561Cs. I don't see Arrow fucking up their inventory to the point that they're selling you some bunk, but under an F Series part number. And to confirm, the part number of the strip in question is indeed a genuine 561C-based F...

    Buddies, side-light and under-canopy LEDs

Man... I really, REALLY need to get my red Buddies up. Already wired and running, but the tent/main fixture aren't ready yet. Always so much shit to do... Soon! Really wanted to put mine above the canopy with the main light, but Corona put a damper on my plans to get some hardware for mounting...

Haven't really been keeping up with strip prices but that looks like a killer deal.

    Light distance question &spectrum question

Never too late to mulch, friend. And it doesn't have to be a living mulch/cover crop. You could even use something like cardboard if you had to, though hay (such as grass clippings), leaves, bark, etc. would be better. Your soil wants a blankie.

    Light distance question &spectrum question

Up your temps and add some epsom salts to your next watering. You're definitely experiencing mag deficiency, and it's quite common when new to LED. You need to try to keep your temps over 80°F, because the lack of infrared light (like you'd get from an HPS) means the leaves aren't as warm...

    The far red thread

Pretty sure that's a 74, not an 81. At least that's what I see, and as far as I know, I don't suffer from any colorblindness.

Aussie High Lights – we're official

I find that 3000k 80 CRI works just fine for veg. No excessive stretch in my experience, as long as you give them enough light.

    DIY with Quantum Boards

I've had nothing but positive experiences with TRC, Arrow, and Sager, but I appreciate that you're sharing your own experience. I have yet to order from Mouser, precisely because of their consistently higher prices, but it sounds like their customer service was worth it for you, so that's cool.

    DIY with Quantum Boards

TRC, Mouser, or Sager are all good options if Arrow is out of stock. (Sager has always given me free shipping, but they don't advertise it.)

    Guide me to the Light....

That's close to being too small, not too big (wire gauges are funny that way - the higher the number, the smaller the wire). I know that the connectors on (for example) an HLG Quantum Board can secure down to 22 gauge, but I don't know about the strips, and I personally wouldn't use smaller...

    The far red thread

The first point I'm working towards is that simply saying "white" LEDs are deficient, and that far red should be added, is kind of like adding more seasoning to the soup you're cooking, without actually tasting it. And yes, another point that needs to be addressed is indeed the ratio of far red...

    The far red thread

It pertains to the convo because the convo is about far red. That EB strip has 6.8% far red. So how much far red is optimum? What percentage of the whole should be made up by far red?

    The far red thread

The example he posted is a Bridgelux EB Gen 3 2700k 90 CRI 560mm strip. It's certainly being manufactured. I think the underlying point being made here is that what you call deficient "white" light isn't just white.

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Personally, I wouldn't use RO in an organic grow. Cal and mag from my well are a valuable part of the equation. But yes, you don't want anything nasty in your water.

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Your driver will very likely take you well past 320w, so it's possible that you'll hit the 30w/sq ft mark; not that it's a magical number where every plant yields a pound, but it's a reasonable benchmark when you're starting out. (But 1w from one board is not necessarily equivalent to 1w from...
