I wish I had a great answer for you. I know other people will have specific suggestions. But getting a plant that is designed to be short will def help. Prob going to be an indica, short stuff or something. Having genetics that keep it short will factor in as much or more than any lighting...

The best thing is to watch the plant closely and let it tell you. If you start and it tells you it is too soon then back off for a while. If it does fine, then keep going. Just remember, it's a lot easier to over-do it with nutes than it is to starve them of nutrients. If you are unsure how much...
