600w is too intense for seedlings! A few CFLs is more than enough to vegg plants.

HSA, I have grown a bush under a 1000 watter on a light rail and still needed some side lighting or underlighting for the lower buds. You could have 20 plants or one plant under a 600w it all depends on the size.

CFLs are great to light up a dark corner or to give you a full spectrum of light. I like to add a few 6500k or daylight bulbs to my HPS to give a more balanced light. I have seen alot of grows only using CFLs. Dont underestimate their power!

What type of soil are you using? If its MG then it already has nutes in it.
