Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

What you need is the Intermatic Grasslin T35, which can be found at just about any hydroponics store, local or online. It's between $15 and $20 depending on where you get it, and it is suitable for a 15/45 cycle. http://www.hydrofanatics.com/hour-electromechanical-timer-p-320.html

    Hyrdro Drip System Overwatering?

I had the same problem. I actually had to make drip rings out of T's and spaghetti hose to avoid this problem. Once you get the drip rings made, bury them so that the drip ring is at the bottom of where the rockwool sits. That was the hydroton gets a good, even soaking, but the rockwool stays...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread. After many weeks of failed attempts, I have finally figured out the problems I was having, and why. Initially I had my drip system setup in a 4x8 flood table (5" high sides) with a plastic cover over the table and 5" net pots placed in holes that were cut...

can some one give me advice

Once the plant has about 4 or 5 nodes, you can go full strength. (ie. That can be anywhere from 1000ppm to 1600ppm depending on the strain, so start with 1000ppm and see how they take it.)

    water pumps

Well, you'll need four items to make this possible. You need to get a pump, tubing to fit the pump, a reservoir of some sort and a digital timer. You should be able to get all four items at any of the big retail stores like Home Depot, Walmart, etc. The pump needn't be very powerfull, 100gph or...

RO vs DI vs Distilled .. Oh my..

If your PH is still high, then your R/O system isn't very effective or isn't working correctly. I tested my water source and got a PH of 8.2 and a TDS of 140 ppm, once I ran it through my R/O system, I got a PH of 7.0 and a TDS of 14 ppm. A properly working, high quality, R/O system should give...

    Using Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2)

Before I make this statement, I will preface it by saying that I'm not refutting the possible benefits of using H2O2 (I use it myself) but I thought RIU readers might like to check out this article: http://www.crophouse.co.nz/files/CG_W09-Hydrogen_peroxide-view.pdf It's a pretty interesting...

    RO vs Filtered Water

Depends on the quality of your tap water, which varies widely depending on location and time of year. It also depends on the source of tap water, is it a municipal water supply or is it well water? These would all factor in. That's why some people choose to go with R/O water, it eliminates that...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

Correct. I wasn't, and that is probably what, along with other things, contributed to the pathogen getting out of control. I will use 1.7ml/L of H2O2 from now on though :) When I mentioned 17ml/L, I was referring to the disinfecting dose, not the regular dose. I know 1.7ml/L is correct for...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

Al. B. Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm using 35% horticultural H2O2, so I did as you suggest and added at 1.7ml/L every 3-4 days. I think it was too late at that point anyway, and apparently it didn't help. I will follow your advice to the letter. Except, I'll use 17ml/L since I'm using...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

UPDATE: Well, it looks like I have the beginning stages of root rot :wall: I wasn't sure at first, but over the past week I've noticed a rather dank musty smell coming from the res and the plants. At first I thought it was just the smell of the plastic in the res or something. I was...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

Well, I've had my system running with a drip cycle of 15 mins on, every 3 hours (except during lights off) for about 2 days now, but it's still not helping. It seems that the best the plants looked was when I made them go 12 hours without water. I'm starting to think I should go with 1, maybe 2...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely do that. Unfortunately, I'm not on city water, I have a deep water well (around 285ft deep) which has a PH of 8.2 and a TDS of ~200 uS. Unfortunately, it contains a lot of sulfur containing compounds which gives it a rather unpleasant odor (rotten egg type...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

I should have been more specific. I actually run my lights at night, 7pm to 1pm for veg cycle, and 7pm to 7am for flowering. So actually, this was done during the lights-on cycle. I haven't been running the pump at all during the lights-off cycle. While that would probably be ideal, my timer...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

Thanks for the input. hmm, this doesn't seem to be a problem for me, at least not thus far. Though I wouldn't know really because I have the drip rings buried in about a half inch of hydroton (to avoid algae problems), and to check them would be a real pain in the ass. All I know is there is...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. Yes, I do use rings (made them myself out of Tees and spaghetti tubing). I opted for the rings instead of the steak just for that very reason (So as not to soak the RW). The thing I quickly realized about hydroton is that water distributes through...

Drip - overwatering problems. Experienced persons wanted.

This is my first time with hydro, but not my first grow (4 soil harvests under my belt), just to give you an idea of my experience level. Before I explain what my problem is, I should mention a few things about my setup first: Type: Drip on 15on/45off intervals Medium: Rockwool/hydroton PH...

fungal knats need to get rid of with extreme predjudice

Get yourself some sharp sand (aka. builders sand) and add about a 1 inch layer on top of your soil. Also get some Safers yellow sticky traps, these will trap most of the adults flying around. Fungas gnats are difficult to irradicate completely during a grow, but with these two methods you'll...

    light?

Sure, why not? Most start with incandescents or CFLs, so you're already a step ahead of the game with a 150w HPS. Go for it.

    MG Organic Choice Soil WTF?

You're killing them with kindness. MG organic soil should get you through veg and half way through flowering before you need to fertilize. Chances are they are way overfed. Flush with copious amounts of water and then leave them alone. If they start to improve in one week, you'll have your answer.
