Long term storage in vacuum sealed jars, should I use humidipaks?

In a sense, air is the fuel for the cure. Sucking it out slows down the process quite a bit. If the product is at its proper humidity and the storage container is airtight, such as a well-sealed mason jar, a humidity pack is not necessary. At all. Simon

    A perfect cure every time

There are always food-grade containers than can be had as big as a barrel. :) Good to see the thread is going well. Good luck to all. Simon

Genetics: what to look for in a plant

I do three runs to get the right plant, if any, from a pack: 1st run - From seed, can't tell much due to a lack of (overall) maturity. For example, a plant the seems tall and lanky can ultimately have a shot, stocky structure. 2nd run - The better individuals from the first run are flowered...

Genetics: what to look for in a plant

I gow out the plants and keep clones of each. Once the original plants are harvested, or are near harvest, I flower the clones of the better looking individuals. Then grow those out and pick the best of the lot. It usually takes me three cycles to identify a mom ...or not. Good luck. Simon

    Drying VS Curing

There's really no one else who confuses the terminology. Every few month someone comes around citing the Book of Ed. Some even go so far as to extrapolate Ed's confusion into a working methodology, one which, of course, doesn't actually work. Can't in the known universe. As a rule, every one of...

It is impossible to cure before drying. Good luck. Simon

Ed is referring to the humidity in the room, as the product is drying. Simon

    Going dark before harvest..

IME, a dark period makes a marginal difference, if any at all. If you guys want to try it, it won't hurt anything. Just watch out for mold. Good luck. Simon

How far from canopy should I keep my blockbuster hood?

No matter what, the plants toward the sides of the garden will always receive less light. You'll need to move the plants around the garden every few days, and/or setup the space as to take advantage of what's there. Meaning, you place the plants in a coliseum-like manner (search for pics) using...

Anyone know how much Cinderella 99 stretches? + feedback?

I'm on a second pack of FMS C99. There's little consistency in the individual expression; IME, stretch ranges from 3x to ~5x from seed (~4 week veg, LST). Good luck. Edit: below is a FMS C99 that was grown from a [free] seed. It's the plant that started the process. It was flowered at ~4-5"...

Lighting upgrade worth it in flower?

There's a world of difference between cheap lamps and inexpensive lamps. I've never tested an Appolo and can't comment on it, specifically. I can tell you that every Asian-made lamp I've tested, save for a pair of Digilux1Ks (a fluke, as others did not meet their specs), measured and performed...

    Grow op/design/set up

Sounds like the perfect spot for a raid by rippers. No one will ever hear you. You do understand what business you're trying to get into, right? Think about this. Seriously. Scaling up from a small grow is not easy. Judging by your questions, you have little to zero cultivation experience...

    Thermometer location in your grow

I used to keep a thermometer/hygrometer near the canopy, but took it out after the batteries ran out. Nothing really changes. I keep a similar device outside the room to keep an eye on the ambient temps/humidity. I do use a laser thermometer on occasion and would recommend one to other growers...

Questions about extending the life of a carbon air filter.

At the risk of stating the obvious, air always flows via the path of least resistance. When using a larger filter and a smaller fan, assuming we're pushing through the filter (you can prorate this for pulling), air will first exit through the holes closest to the flow. As those opening are...

what type of soil do you use? why do you use it? and wats your water schedule?

I use Pro-mix for everything. Prefer the B'cuzz brand and add nothing to it; from the bag right into the pots. Water from the tap about every two days in 2gal pots. Why Pro-Mix? Because, it's easy to work with, it's commonly available, it lacks (heavy) nutrient content, and it's very...
