you're wasting your time, defoliating and lolli-popping is designed to increase PAR to the plant... you dont have a plant... you have a twig. when your plant is 3-4ft tall, and 5ft+ in circumference... then defoliating and lolli-popping can play a part to get more light deeper into the plant...

where abouts in canada do you live? some of those strains may not finish outdoors...

it makes perfect sense if your tap water isnt potable ;) alot of people with wells have this problem, can vary from highly acidic, to extremely hard. So if you have Bad water... well, you're pretty much a fool to Not use one :)
