To those who think transplanting to large pots isn't very useful..

That's only four days in that large pot too. The soil mix is different of course, has compost mixed it too, and worms, but the worms wouldn't have had enough time to even settle-in yet, let alone get shitting ferts.

Okay smartass 8) All four planted the same time, same medium, same ferts, same lighting. It'd be unlikely that the only pheno that pops so well is the one potted-up a few days ago, considering it was e same size as the others till it was xplanted, wouldn't it now? Hmmm? Still believe it's...

To those who think transplanting to large pots isn't very useful..

True enough, though these are heirloom seeds, and certified non-GM too so they will have variations, but all three of the small ones are pretty much the same size, and they're all from the same packet/planting, I'll take a pic of all four: even if you look at em all together the average is the...

    Server errors every few posts

Every hoir or so I'd say, I am getting a server message that rollotup is down, or a 524 time-out error. It gives me some CloudWhatever cached "snapshot" but that 5xx errors-out thr first link you press. Happens very regularly. Regular enough to annoy me into making a thread about it, certainly!

I really should go repot the other three, cos it'd be the definition of stupidity to lecture about procrastination, then fail to follow my own advice.

Good good! If I wasn't so lazy, I'd take photos of the roots for the smaller of the two. Remarkable thng I noticed is it's just now starting to reach to the bottom, not wound-around the pot in a mat of roots, and neither was the bigger one a few days ago when it was transplanted: in was only...

To those who think transplanting to large pots isn't very useful..

I should've made the title "To those of us who procrastinate potting UP plants to larger pots", oh well. The one on the left will be transplanted next, so I'll be curious to see whether it catches-up after a week or two. There're two other Tomatoe plants need potting up too.

This was meant to be the before/after for another thread for the new cert. Organic seaweed fert I got, but I couldn't resist giving it to both of these two "test" tomatoes and as it's turned-out, both these two (Tomato O: Left and Tomato I: Right) have been fed from the same bucket of slop at...

Home-made Honey & Lemon Mustard! Supermarkets, suck it!

Tasted mm sweet and sour at first. Like mustard with honey in it, for lack of a more precise descriptor, then after a second or two when it's reached the rest of your mouth it warms up smooth and fast (approx Halepono(sp?) pepper heat) then tapers-out over about 5 seconds. Wish i had've had a...

Home-made Honey & Lemon Mustard! Supermarkets, suck it!

Tasted outstanding by the way ;) all gone now. but I've got some next-gen seeds germing. This time I wanna try making mustard with the leaves of the plant, since theiy're quite hot and mustardy, and much more .. Plentiful than the seeds. Though I'll also plant at least four plants for this year...

Oh how I pity the non-gardeners.

Thing they don't get is that - and I've noticed this - take today for instance, I have to continue potting-up the tomatoes into 40-50L pots I got the other day for them, and although I'll probably not even do all three remaining tomatoes today, (takes a while to mix up each pot, since I have to...

Worm Castings Tea and Powdery Mildew

I tossed about a cup of castings in a bucket with some comfrey and plant clippings, kelp, and other shit with the intent of making a tea, but I think my worms are doomed to die. Not sure why, they have a large 50L black container to live in, with all manner of shit to eat, I just have a feeling...

Where to start with veg, herbs or flowers?

Make sure you only purchase Heirloom seeds: Yates and other commercial seed manufacturers genetically engineer their shit, and the only way to get natural seeds (which in turn guarantee you can save seeds from your own plant(s) is to buy certified heirloom.

Oh yeah. Enjoy it fine, but without any desire to know anything about the plant gave it to em.

And us for having to try and explain it to em. How many other people live with someone who couldn't care less about a living laboratory like a garden? .. I've tried explaining the err high-lights and/or key events as they happen but after about the sixth shrug, I just stopped bothering.

Where to start with veg, herbs or flowers?

I've been buyin' Chilli plants for years and they're almost always flowering at the nursery when I buy em as 6" seedlings. They go on to produce Chillies pretty much continuously from purchase until death, which seems to occur most often due to neglect on my part, since I don't use mich chilli...

Where to start with veg, herbs or flowers?

AND, I got this the other day - lets me spray the entire garden in one go with worm piss and castings run-off, molasses, and kelp without having to run back to thr bucket or tap to refill every few plants. Good stuff!

Where to start with veg, herbs or flowers?

Also, though it's not the same since you'll be growing indoors in a controlled environment, it took me the last few years to figure out what grows well where I am, and that's probably the most important thing I've learnt: not to flog a dead horse. Like I said carrots don't like it in my yard, so...
