stuck with home depot and walmart.

Yeah, for me to mix it would be too much hassle and I find it grows good enough to have to mix soil up. As for Alaska Fish Fertilizer, I am sure it works well but I just would not want that smell all the time. Many fertilizers out there do not stink like that and works really well that I will...

stuck with home depot and walmart.

You like to mix extra Perlite with Sunshine or Promix? I use Sunshine Mix 4 and Promix professional and they are fine without extra Perlite. Just seems like a lot of extra work. Mixing soil is messy and those two soils have a lot of Perlite already. Just for people who do not know, Sunshine 4...

    digital thermometer

I like to water my plants just under what the room temperature is. For me that is around 70-75 F. As for C or F that totally depends on what you know however usually Celsius is used around the world and Fahrenheit is used in the USA.

    question about getting faster maturing

Just keep it 12/12 and you should be good. It is what works best for everyone. Do you really want to test things with your first crop that you need to come in good?

    >>>read me<<<

Almost any light will keep it from flowering in that short period of time. You could even just leave the shed lights on even if it is an incandescent bulb. As long as there is light, they will not think its going into the fall season.

Finally got HID! How far away is OK?

If it does not feel too hot, you are fine. Watch your plants and if it is not burning it, then you are good. If the plant starts stretching, then you should move it closer. If you have grown for years with cfl's, then it should be fairly common sense to you.

    Quick question about lighting

Anywhere that sells shop lights. They are not very expensive however they might not have a nice polished oak finish like the ones in your pic.

    Getting into Canada

Depends where you want to cross. East coast/ West coast. Lots of places you can just walk across if you wanted to.

    Quick question about lighting

That is cheap and nice too. However, I picked up my fixtures from Wal-Mart for 8 bucks when they were clearing them out. They are not fancy like but those are hard wired. I prefer if they just have a plug so it is easier to put a timer on them. In addition, something else I noticed, those are...

    1) Yes, you can trick them by putting them in a dark room at night or just placing a box over them outside to block out the light. 2) Not that I know of or have ever heard of.

    Grow Shops in Vancouver BC

There are lots of grow shops in Vancouver. They might not all have websites however they are not that far apart that you could not get to one easy enough. I can even think of a few that is not even on dopey's list. Besides that, Wal-Mart or Home Depot always has many supplies also and you can...

    possible lighting issues?

The problem with growing monster plants is that your 600 will not have much light penetration down to the lower bud sites. One monster 6 or 7-foot plant is not going to yield more than say three - 3 foot plants. I think you would be better off-putting four - 3-foot plants under each 600 watts...

    Quick question about lighting

Go with the two shop lights and 4 florescent tubes. They will grow fine in that and the canopy of all your plants will be fairly even. I veg under that and in 4 weeks, they are easily 10-14" and bushy. No stretching at all. Use the 6500K Daylight bulbs. You could always add a few cfl’s...

Plants dieing. Don't know why. Please help

Then your not feeding it enough nute/water solution. If the soil was wet, in a five gallon bucket... the roots would search out for more moisture/water/nutes and should last you a minimum of a few days seeing how your plants are so small and you're using 5 gallon buckets.

rusty spots on leaves - please help diagnose (pics)

Showing only one leaf does not make it easy to diagnose. Try to show the area as well as the whole plant. From what little it shows, I would say a calcium deficiency.

    So pissed!

When it dries, you will probably have only a 1/4 of what the weight is now. That sucks. You could use a food dehydrator to dry it a little quicker but for what you paid for it, I'd probably stick it in a jar and cure it properly.
