I'd leave them as long as you can be careful while you're watering. It's the nutrients doing the burning. You want the leaves, obviously to gather the light. You'll slow the growth if you cut them. But, even without them, it's not the end of the world, they'll pull through just fine.

If the 5 gal pots are basically touching each other you have little room for foliage. The CFLs are probably going to be a waste of electricity with 600w HPS in that small of a space. Add to that, I hope you can keep it all cool. My 2 cents.

Is that light one of the all in one models with the ballast in the hood? If so did you go with the digital model or the magnetic ballast? The guy at the local store can't answer questions about heat output or need for fans. Just kind of curious as I'm considering that same light.

I'd see how moist the soil is. Simply by the photos alone, I'd say you're watering to much.

How can anyone give any advice if we don't know what medium you're growing in? A sterile medium is going to need quite a bit a nutrient solution throughout the grow cycle. However, a really good soil mix may only require watering from start to finish.

Doesn't look quite ready to me. But it's hard to tell in those pics.
