    Pruning?

When would you all say the best time for pruning is and how much? I have a Pure Gold under a 150watt HPS covering 2x2 feet. It is 3 weeks into flower and finally the fan leaves are starting to show some trichomes on them. Up until now I've been pruning away the new growth of fanleaves(about 6...

Rickwhite, seriously SHUT UP ABOUT THE 50% ISSUE. If you weren't so incompetent you'd know that ANY OBJECT that has light hitting it from a single source is 50% in shade. No matter the shape of the object. I don't care if you point a light at a ball from the left or right or top or at a god damn...

    vertical growing

You are completely wrong Rickwhite... and when I grow plants with horizontal lighting i see a LOT of shade in the middle of the plant, the only part of the plant that gets lighting is the top and a small part of the outside as the plant gets wider, the inside growth gets NO direct lighting...

If stems grow mostly according to gavity as you say then all the more reason why vertical would be even better... despite the plant getting lighting from the side, it would still grow upward which would increase its footprint. Bottom branches need to stretch a LOT to increase the plants...

Myxedup... Yes, I appologize. I had realized afterwards that you were speaking the opposite of what I had originally interpreted. I was just too lazy to bother editing my post. :-D RickWhite... You are forgetting that smaller bulbs are less efficient... 4 150watt bulbs is 60,000...

G/W doesn't lie and Heath gets over 2g/w.... doesn't lie. You apparently haven't grown and seen how your light affects a plant canopy. Vertical growing does grow more efficiently because the lumens are spread equally so you don't have some plants close to the light getting 2x more lux than...

PurfectStorm... I don't care how you're growing but you aren't going to get 2-5 pounds off of a 600 watt... especially not your first time. You'll be lucky to get 1 pound if all goes well.

Dutch Passion Fem. Strawberry Cough under 600w HPS

I smoked the last of my SC buds this week... (the last clone harvested 6 months ago). Seeing this grow makes my mouth water for that strain so badly... it grew a fat cola(like yours) and had a smell almost like a lemony citrusy strawberry. Seeing these pictures is going to make me spend money on...

    vertical growing

Everyone misses the point... with horizontal grows you are losing light to the reflective material and to light being reflected back onto the bulb itself... and you are losing light to the side walls... not to mention the light is disbursed unevenly amongst the plants. With a Colosseum you have...

2 things... Firstly, it's very irritating for you all to keep saying "pervert" because you don't "perfer vertical"... the damn word is "PREFER" not perfer and so you'd be a "PREVERT" not a "pervert". Don't make a play on words if you can't even spell properly, it makes you look stupid rather...

Dutch Passion Fem. Strawberry Cough under 600w HPS

I'd have to state opinion... though its based on obvious facts. Fan leaves are good for 2 things, photosynthesis for sugar and as storage for mobile nutrients (when the plant gets low on certain nutrients, the plant takes them from the lower growth/fan leaves and puts them into the new growth)...

    Why would I do that?

    my first super silver haze

Since you are using a 400 watt, you'll want about 1ft of space from the light to the top of the plants. Start flowering at 12-18 inches. If they are really bushy you could wait until 24in.

    Nutrients

Don't do it earlier than 2 weeks. I would say 4, but it depends on how you intend to grow. The fact that your nutrients are geared towards a vegging plant rather than a flowering one means you'll want them to have some extra P and K for when they flower. If you want to flower as soon as it's...

How long after drying does it take to start smelling good in cure?

Always seemed like a rotten tomato smell to me. It all depends how quickly you dry it. Generally, a week of drying and they lose the smell. (I have a wooden tea box that I dry small amounts in and they lose their smell within 3 days).

Help... hash oil smells bad like vinegar.

I've always done my iso runs for only about 30-60 seconds and gotten brown or amber. Like I said, I just hoped I could get more out of it that was decent :-(. I guess next time if I want to try for a 3rd run i'll have to do it at the time, rather than 2 weeks later.

Lol yep... probably blew himself up heating it on the stove.

Help... hash oil smells bad like vinegar.

Well then, considering the herb was sitting there still soaked from the first and second iso-run for almost 2 weeks, I guess it's time to dump it.

Help... hash oil smells bad like vinegar.

I've rinsed the same bud and made hash oil with it a few times to see how much useful oil I can get from some bud. The first time was a beautifully pure brown oil. Second time was a little darker but still excellent. This third time the solution was very dark green... now that it's fully...
