if you want they can.. I usually veg at 20-4 I feel like plants like to sleep.. even if it's only for 2-4 hours a day. it won't hurt them to have 24 hour light, but the only time dark is really important is when you want to bloom.

it's ok.. don't try to re-hydrate that's for kooks. are the jars air tight? how much time are they spending open each day? if they are that dry, it would be ok to leave the jar closed for a few days. especially if you feel it's drying too fast.
