Nice setup! You gotta give that cutting a little more time, theres no way its growing after 24 hours. It will take a few days to die if its going to and you'll want to make some sort of clear dome greenhouse thing over that cutting.

Bury the stem with some new soil so its only 3-4 inches from the first 2 round leaves, then move the plants closer to the lights, 2-3 inches away.

Not sure your situation but, 300 plants is a ton, that would take up a shitload of space and shitloads of more work to get them perfect. This has to be a typo. Do people really grow 300 plants at once? Best bet would be outdoors man, in a big field lol

I'm not against aluminium foil use here and there, but that will reflect heat as I learned from my homemade light reflectors. So just keep an eye one those temps. Also get the plants closer to that bulb to avoid over stretching.

I had the same thing happen to my plant after I topped it, it grew real long cuz my lights were too far away. But just make sure you tie the branches down and you'll be ok. My plant looks lanky and I accidentally split it a tiny bit in the middle right where I topped.

Yea my CFL fixture gets pretty warm. You need a good exhaust taking plenty of air out and I also use a fan to blow right across the bulbs. Also I'm not being super stealthy or anything at the moment so I just leave to doors to my wardrobe closet open a few inches and that helps a ton.

Yea, I'm always burning the tips of the leaves but overall I think the plants like the light more so they don't mind a slight singe on the tips.

I've seen a side-by-side grow with trimming leaves and not trimming, and he had excellent results on the trimmed plant. I trimmed up several leaves off my girls today, I'll keep you updated on how they look in a few days.
