ahhh your using soil... top leaves are yellow because your soil is running out of Sulfur and Iron.. ..add a bit of epsom salt for the sulfur, and stabalize your soil ph (check using runoff). there should be plenty of iron in soil (any soil nowadays) your pH is off causing a slow lockout...

I'm at 4-6 inches, you can get pretty close without damaging the leaves. That's one of the pros to fluorescents...

some are going straight up and branching out (sativas), and some are shorter and denser (indicas)

It's pretty normal, and that's good. When they stop growing you have to start wondering whats going on... Sounds like you doing a good job, just keep it up. If you start noticing colorations, then use the chart to figure what you need to do. Oh and don't forget about checking pH levels...

I usually use nextgen 1000W with digi bulbs HPS, but I'm debating on using those ge reveal bulbs... since coloring is 2600k its has some good light enery, but it lacks in lumens. I dont know yet... ...i have 8 strains growing and i'm on day 19. my plants are 10-12 inches high...

HOLY COW!!!! I'm doing this exact setup on my experimental grow...!!! ...on the T8 use 6500K and 3000K (go for the 2600k if possible)... so depending on your strain and wants, add 6500 to make it more stretchy, or add 2600k to make it more dense ...Lowes 8.98, Target 11.95, Wal-Mart 9.98...
