Hi, Would you agree that if you are growing a foot tall plant with 5 cfl bulbs it is impossible to get the lights within 1" of the buds without leaving the fan leaveson the outside of the reflectors? In this case should you put the lights on the buds or the fan leaves? Putting the lights on...

If you have the right equitment and can cool it you should get a 400 watt hps. It pputs out 50,000 lumens. But in order to cool it your going to need a lot of stuff. Carbon scrubber, inline fan, ezcool hood, ducting, and probably a variable fan speed controller.

Should you put the cfl's on the fan leaves or the buds? Buds seems like the obvious answer to me, but dont the fan leaves absorb most of the light for the plant.

The lower leaves are yellowing and dying because they have no light. If i was you id add more light or put it on the windowsill, its better then 28 watts. Or you could do both add more lights and put it on the windowsill with the lights :blsmoke:

I personally would put them in flower right away. This is because your lighting system is very small and wont be able to fuel a large plant. Frankly 2 14w cfl's arent going to yield much more then a couple tiny buds. You should go to walmart and drop like $5 on 2 26watt cfl's. Your plants...

im assuming 85 watts is the equivlant, and then no you probably dont have enough for that number of plants, depending on how much space they take up. You want to have at LEAST 5000 lumens per square foot, 10,000 is ideal. Hard to tell how big you room is but a 2x2 room should have at least...

imo you dont need to buy 42 watters, they only put out 2600 lumens and the 26 watters put out 1750 lumens. 3 26watters=2 42 watters, you save money and electric, and you get more bulbs. When growing with cfl more bulbs are always better.
