    Snipers

Holy shit. I've been a hunter for who knows how long and a huge firearms enthusiast and I've never even heard of gyroscopic drift. Yet according to the wiki article it affects the point of impact of bullets by upwards of ~20 inches at 1000 yards. I'll be damned. +rep.

    DIY Fan speed controller

If you use a resistive controller meant for lights in essence you will be reducing the voltage to the fan, which reduces the torque the fan's motor can produce. This will reduce the fan's speed but not in the way it was meant to. Proper control of an electric motor should be done with something...

    Snipers

The first one I think was during Vietnam..or was it Korea. At any rate, the enemy sniper was sent out there specifically to take down... Here he is, Carlos Hathcock. 93 confirmed kills. Amazing really. On a different note and maybe to poke fun at fdd2blk, but it's funny to watch people from...

Have you ever told or showed a GF that you grow??

The wife is extremely nervous about me growing because of the legal trouble our society will put me in if I get caught. At the same time, she knows it helps my pain and my depression. So, that wins out in the end. Plus, with all my new-found knowledge I'm keeping her Hibiscus tree, fern...

    Getting seeds to grow

I like to use my computer tower which is inside a cabinet. Seeds inside a wet paper towel, place a 16 ounce plastic cup over it so the paper towel doesn't dry out and into the cabinet it goes. From the moment I put water on the towel to when I have 1 cm long tails is no longer than 24 hours...

    weed inducing schitzophrenia?

When I restarted the bud after forever I inadvertently got my hands on the chronic not knowing what it was. Total freakout, thought I was dying, time kept resetting, music coming from the fan, from the walls. He probably just got high as fuck- not everyone knows what the expect you know? It's...

California, the promised land??? (CA residents)

Never been there. Heard it's nice. Also heard they have a dumbass for a governor and a budget crisis. But what the hell, at least you don't live in Iowa. And to quote another member of the board when I was pondering moving to Denver or Cali- "The grass is always greener on the other side"...

    calyx or balls?

Count how many "petals" it has. If you can see 5 defined petals it is most likely a guy. But, as always, wait and confirm! Good luck.

    spraying sparkling water for CO2?

Erm. Well, maybe highly carbonated water would work. This sounds like someone found out that sparkling water has dissolved CO2 in it and thought it would be a good idea to both water and 'feed'. It would seem to depend on the pH of the carbonated water according to the always venerable...

    I am enlightened

Well...he had the entire place (9000 watts) hooked up with a water to air exchange cooling system. No ducting, just hoods and a few black water hoses. They were so efficient he was placing his hand against the tempered glass of a 1000 watt HPS hood. Aside from him trying to push me toward...

    I am enlightened

I visited my first hydroponics store today and engrossed the owner in what had to be a 2 hour long conversation on growing techniques. I had to have doubled my knowledge of growing in those two hours. I feel very zen like.

    Very dim 400W HPS

No problem! It's good that you found the problem now instead of later. When my bulb died last week I literally left the room for 10 minutes and came back and the output had dimmed 95%. If the bulb cools and you notice a metallic coating to the protective outer glass, well- that's elemental...

    Very dim 400W HPS

Turn off the light, remove the bulb, and see if there are any hairline cracks in the inner core. Additionally, when the bulb cools down observe if there are is any metallic shine to the protective outer glass layer. If so you may have a bad bulb (my 400 W HPS bulb failed in this manner...
