Sure. I've never grown one, but you can certainly train the plant as it grows. You probably can't make the plant as large as other strains which have long vegetative periods, but there is nothing stopping you from training. Try it and see what kind of yields you get. Good luck.

1500 / foot sounds very small to me. I run the canopy around 9,000 foot-candles, but that's just me.

That's about 8100 lumens / sq foot aka foot candles at maximum. You might have some hot spots in there, so I suppose light movers would be best. And definitely adequate cooling...

Well, look at it this way. At around 10 inches from my hood containing a 400 watt HPS my light meter is at 10,000 foot candles, which is the max I feel safe keeping the light from the canopy (adequate cooling needed). So, again, assuming adequate cooling a 2x3 foot space could probably work.

What hardware stores are you going to? I'm using a 'continuously variable' controller made for a ceiling fan with a 4" fan right now. It works fine. Alternatively, you can contact a motor drives company or look for one on the internet which sells square wave (or similar) motor controllers. Or...
