Not a problem. Some people flower plants from seed then revert for clones. Or even continue to flower them. You are perfectly safe at 6 weeks. Although....6 weeks is generally enough time to see preflowers, some strains take longer than others I guess.

It sounds like just a combination of genetics and lighting. More sativa dominant straints will grow taller thinner buds that "stretch". Indica dominants grow shorter, fatter, denser buds.This "stretching" is also a common side effect of inadequate light source. Nothing will fatten up your buds...
