Aerogarden and CFLs on the side(?)

8 Bit: I might suggest that you use the A/G pretty much as it's designed until you're used to it and you get a few crops under your belt. The addition of the air pump and air stone is a given but extra lighting isn't really necessary if you have the hood that accommodates three high intensity...

    first time dwc advice needed

England: I wish there was an easier way, but from what you ask, I get the impression you might be new to this so I’d suggest you RTFB and refer to the following resources: 1. Read: SeeMoreBud’s, “MARIJUANA BUDS FOR LESS- GROW 8 OZ. OF BUDS FOR LESS THAN $100.” It’s...

    DWC Nutrient/additive/stimulant recommendations?

Arroz: For nutes in hydro, I'm a fan of Technaflora's, "Recipe for Success." If you use their whole program, it's complete, user friendly and I haven't had any of the problems you see these guys complaining about here. All you need is good water, a set of measuring spoons and something to check...

    Overdriving flourescent fixtures?

Gagekko: if you're doubling the ballasts and pouring that much current into your fixture what's that doing to the heat factor and potential for fire? I've been trying to corner an electrician friend of mine to ask him his opinion but he's been as busy as a long tailed cat in a room full of...

What specific type of hydroponic system does the Aerogarden use?

Manganese: that depends on what models you're talking about. The A/G-3 and A/G-6 are bubbling DWC's and for growing MMJ it's pretty much like pissing up stream. The seven holes models, by virtue of the circulating pump in the reservoir, are active hydroponic systems. They are not legitimately...

    under the t5.. first timer

Errb: It doesn't get any better than that. Use a scope to verify harvest time. You can get one from Walmart or your local hydro store for about $20. HSA

    Best strains for Aerogardens?

Cheif: almolst any indoor, short strain will work well. You have a practical 23" growing height to work with in the taller A/G's so your supplier should be able to recommend the new hybrid strains available that fit. I hope that helps. HSA

    Should i get the Aerogarden??

Kaitlyn: a lot of us started with the Aerogarden and learned a lot about hydro. It's a great compact, complete, table top active hydroponic growing system but I'm afraid you didn't do your homework first and if you're planning on using the 'Space Saver 6' model because if you do you're doing it...

    DWC basket question

Growinggnome: the less you have to do to a plant the easier it is on the plant. Transplanting is often stressful. Why not plant it in the size net pot you intend to grow it in. There's less chance of damaging the roots in the transfer. I hope that helps. HSA

    bulbs

Toker: there are tow schools of thought on lighting, one is that more is better and you can have lamps and cords all over your grow until it's a hazsrd. A single T-5 fixture over a SOG can do the same thing with one fixture and one cord. I like simple. I hope that helps. HSA

My budding is trying to talk me into going hydro

KGB: Are you ready? Things are going to happen real fast in hydro so you really need to know what the hell you're doing or you're likely in for a lot of disappointment. If you haven't got a lot of experience then I suggest you RTFB. Hank

    starting seeds

Vonkins: There are a lot of ways to skin a cat but in an A/G it's always best to do it like you're told. RTFB and do it their way and it's hard to screw up. If you no longer have the book go to their website and read it off of there. Their customer service reps are a good source for information...

    defficiency?

Cheech: what nutes are you using and in what amounts. Some you can use full strength and others you don't dare to. Get back to us one that and maybe we can help. Hank

    Air Pump

Corso: According to one of our teachers, "Plants use a lot more air than water," so I don't think you can have too much. What they look like isn't so easy to see except that the ones that are well airiated grow faster bigger and of course that's what we all want. Just make sure that the bubbles...

    5th week seedling?

Vincent: There's a lot of things that can cause slow growth that you didn't tell us? 1. What nutes are you using 2. Do you have an air stone in your pot? 3. What light frequency/color are you using, how far above your plants is it, and for how long? Get back to us and maybe we can help you. HSA

    BUG Lite CFL

DO3SHA: According to Green, in his growers bible, "The stink/smell we perceive is an insect repellent that the plants produce themselves." If you keep your grow space hospital clean and you don't bring in insects on your person from the outside then you shouldn't have a problem. I take care of...

Quick question, I have "4" 23=100 WATT CFL bulbs 2700k

i7up: Are you sure two are going to fit in there? I would think that's going to be as crowded as trying to fit two elephants in a Smart Car. What we've been told in school, "Auto flowering typically are started at 12/12 because they're genetically predisposed only to flowering." But I've also...

How bad are cfls for your eyes?

Leach: I think that depends a lot on who you ask. I have a doctor friend who claims they're bad for you but when I asked her why she didn't use incandescent lighting through out her office she just rolled her eyes and admitted it would cost too much. If you're comparing it to staring at a MH...

    CFL Fixture Design: Need Suggestions.

All Day: have you considered a single T-5 fixture that completely covers your grow? For a small personal grow I've found them to be very efficient. The single tube light bars mentioned are usually designed for under counters or cabinets and unless you have quite a few of them they don't usually...

    Cfl grow, fluro question.

Nofeds: for us, lighting is the tool that enables us to manipulate our plant's calender for an earlier harvest. If you can't depend on your lights then it's pretty apparent that if it can't be fixed it needs to be replaced. My dad was an electrician and thank God one of my good friends is an...
