    Led Users Unite!

I'm trying out a 450w panel and 2x90w LEDs in my current 1030w grow. I know the 90w UFOs work great when paired with HPS, I had 4x90w UFOS and a 400w HPS my last grow (760w) and I pulled roughly 1lb dry. But, I've never seen what the big panels can do first hand, I'll keep you posted as I...

    Best potting soil?

Black Gold and FF Ocean Forest are both two great soils. A lot of soil use comes down to what nutes you use, what strains you're growing, as well as personal preference. Basically, find some good suggestions and shop around. There is no "best."

Here are some updated photos from day 35. Chemdawg #4 on the left (below) Here's Blue Dream trying to over-grow the UFO (below) XJ-13 is stretching past the hood! I added a 42w CFL (not pictured) a couple inches above the top to provide some light. (below) Bubba Kush starting...

Finding the right LED is really easy now, actually. Just hit up EBay, search "led grow light" and change the 'Sort By' option to 'Price: Highest first.' You can grab a 90w UFO for around $130-150, $~200 for 120w, and ~230 for 150w, and about $300+ for a 250w light. For only a couple plants, I...

    Will these lights work??

Yes, the bulbs are cheap. The expensive part of HPS growing isn't buying the bulb, it is the ballast (which usually runs $150+), a cooling fan, a hood/reflector, ducting, etc. HPS isn't like CFL or LED, you can't just plug and go. edit - The bulbs range from 200-1000w, but normal plugs don't...

Updated Humboldt County's Own Gravity detailed instructions & Feeding schedule!

I read a really huge thread about the difference in all 3. Snowstorm (SS) is basically Snowstorm Ultra + PurpleMaxx (PM). SS was made to get the purple effect of PM and also max the Trich production. However, some people didn't like that it raised the pH so much from the PM. So, Snowstorm Ultra...

LED light question and Light link

If money is no option then it depends on coverage and penetration. If you are sea of greening them, you won't need much penetration. I'd recommend a couple 300w panels side by side. If you are planning on a few big plants rather than numerous tiny ones, I'd get the bigger 450-600w panels. I...

    cheap light fix

Toss a 90w LED UFO over top of those (in addition to the 7 cfls) and you'll see a BIG difference! The most dank weed I've ever grown was a LED/CFL combo grow. Not the most I've ever yielded, but more than a CFL only grow and suuuuuuper dank!

    Will these lights work??

It really depends on your budget and what you're trying to achieve. For 1-2 plants, you best bet for low heat/power would probably be a 90w LED UFO. It'll run you about $150 on ebay and it has about a 2'x2' coverage. edit - here is a company I've used before, great customer service and no...

    Will these lights work??

They will grow, but you won't get much yield. 1-2 plants under those might get you a couple eights. If you plan on using those, grab a couple Dual bulb connectors and run 4 bulbs http://www.amazon.com/Dual-Bulb-Socket-Converts-socket/dp/B002WDBLM4 Remember, 150w equivalent is NOT the same as...

    cheap light fix

Not a great idea. I thought about this once too. The problem is that they give off a lot of light, but of the wrong spectrum. There is a lot of yellow produced by the bulb, but very little blue or red (needed for photosynthesis). There is a lot of "visible" light, but not "usable" light.

    topping a plant!!!!!!

Basically, yes. Pinch off right above the 4th branch, and those 4 should all stretch to try and fight for dominance, resulting in 4 major colas, rather than 1. Sometimes one doesn't catch up and you wind up with 3 (especially with clones). I've actually topped plants twice before (topping each...

LED light question and Light link

If $399 is your price range (like the cost of that LED), I'd recommend http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-250-Watts-Quad-Band-LED-Grow-light-2010-2Watts-Chip-/140416637021?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item66724073ba That's a 250w panel for about $340. It's also uses High Power 2w LEDs...

    ~Just finished week 4, question about nutrients!?~

 I am curious what types of nutrients people use on the final couple weeks before flushing. I'm going into week 5, and I've never tried any "finisher" nutrients; like over-drive, final phase, or anything like that. I'm just curious if anyone has any products that they "can't live...

start from seed or start from clone? +++rep

Pro for seeds (in my opinion) is to find a really awesome mother plant to take clones from, haha. As mentioned above, seeds can produce more; BUT, not all of them (only the ones you end up wanting to save as mothers). Cloning is much faster and more reliable. When you have a very solid strain...

    LED Growing lights

The reason they use the blue and red LEDs is because plants absorb red and blue to produce chlorophyll. White contains every color, thus it appears white. LEDs were designed to be a more energy efficient and light wavelength specific way of growing. You can buy white LEDs, but the blue and red...

    Foliager feeding in flower?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I read through the paper. It is a paper arguing that the roots uptake nutrients better than the leaves. However, it states several times that the leaves do take in nutrients, absorb them into parts of the plant, and are able to use them. The ONLY thing that your...
