Good points, I live in so cal, so I leave my bucket out in the sun to get it heated, but you do want to have a warmer temperature, so most people probably would need one. I should probably get one too, just to be on the safe side, so it looks like I'll be going down to the hydro shop sometime...

How Do I Get Started in Organics?

I was hydro before organic, and yes, the rate of growth and yield are cut, but the final product is so much better, the taste and quality. If you are growing for quick turn around, then organics probably isn't for you. But if you just want a high quality smoke, I'd do it. also, if you sell your...

How Do I Get Started in Organics?

I know the recipes call for a lot, but it is quite simple once you get going. I prefer the guano teas, but that means you have to brew up a batch of tea every time you water, which some people don't like to do. With the first nute recipe, you just add plain water the whole way through, which is...

    Organics For Beginners

Note-the Maxi-crop kelp extract could be rather expensive, and I was recently recommended the KIS seaweed extract. I have not used it yet, but plan on getting some as soon as the M-C is gone. Here's a link http://www.simplici-tea.com/seaweed.htm.

    Organics For Beginners

I know, I straight stole this from another forum, but it is such a great mix/recipe I couldn't help myself. This is what got me started on organics, and hopefully it will do the same for you. I just see so many asking how to start off organically, so hopefully this will serve a purpose. Here are...

How Do I Get Started in Organics?

There are a number of different ways you can grow organically. If you have any feed stores in your area, go check it out. They should have the blood/bone/alfalfa/cottonseed meals, most plant nurseries carry earthworm castings(EWC), dolomite limes, different guanos, kelp and seaweed extracts, its...

Nice build, looks legit man. I built one very similar to that from directions from the Oregon state extensin website. Did you drill holes n the vertical piece of pvc? Also, what was that apparatus attached to the vertical pvc? You should maybe make a parts list, and explain the function/price of...

    does ph down kill microbeasties?

As long as you have a diverse microherd, ph is not an issue. The bene's will break down the food while making it available in a safe form to the plants, regardless of ph. I don't ever even check my ph anymore, and I have not had any problems.

    Homemade Organic Fertilizers?

Hows it going GDP, great strain, I would not recommend using fish wter. The chemicals are used to kill bacteria, good or not, and in organics we strive for the beneficial bacteria, which would be lossed if you used it. There are a number of different organic nutes you an use. I posted a copy of...

The end to all of the organic flushing questions

Well said, Wetdog. There is absolutely no need to flush organics. I think that most people who go from hydro or chemical nutes to organics just do it by habit, without thinking of why it is even necassary.

    P.H. problem

The way I've always thought about ph and organics is that it doesn't matter. So long as you have an effective microherd, they will break down the food in a way that is available to the plants, regardless of ph. I'm sure someone will disagree with me, but from my experience, and further research...

What Hydroponics system should I use?

What's up dude, I wish I could convince you to stay in soil and go organic, but I know that won't happen. The first and only hydro I've done was in the CAP ebb and gro, and I thought that it was a pretty good system. I bought it at a shop, ended up being about $625, and found it online at...

    lc's soilless mix

I have used lc's mix #1 and with great success. When adding the amendments, I would water with EWC tea and molasses, and if you notice any deficiencies, you can always sidedress it in. I have always had the greatest success in mix #1 with recipe #3, the guano and kelp tea, but you can...

    Vintage Bat Guano

From the NPK numbers (3,10,2), I think it would be a great bloom booster. Let us know how it goes.

    Flavoring Bud.

i think he had a reasonable assumption to think that the fruit eating bats would have a "sweeter" guano, i personally have never thought about it, but would like to look into it more. Insect eating bats(mexican guano) tends to be high in nitrogen, while fruit eating bats(indonesian and jamaican)...

    Flavoring Bud.

If you are growing organically, there is no need to flush. You only flush when you are adding chemicals. You are not giving food to the plant in organics, you are giving food to the microbes in the soil, who then eat it and release available nutrients to the plant. There is nothing the plant...

    Composting & bears

As long as you have a proper mixture of ingredients, and aren't throwing meaty products in, you should be fine from bears regardless. I have heard different ratios of C:N, but 30:1 or twice as much brown to green seem to work the best. Just make sure to diversify your ingredients. Also depending...

    Composting & bears

I just got done writing a large response and hit the wrong button, deleting it all. Sucks. Anyways, if you have the funds, I would recommend a compost tumbler, especially if you are using it on your yard outdoors as well. They are pretty well sealed, except for some small air holes, and the...
