I Never Seem to get Amber Trichomes

So here I am, a newbie hobby/medicine grower in Northern California, cultivating autoflowers outdoors in 5-gallon pots. Since I started in March, I've had several 'successful' harvests, but have never seen a significant number of amber trichomes. So far I've brought three Jack Herer X AK47s to...

    FastBuds Pineapple Express Outdoor Grow

My 23-day above is a good comparison. It seems as if we've got the same number of nodes, but mine had greater growth in the secondary branches. I'm in Northern California. What region are you in?

    FastBuds Pineapple Express Outdoor Grow

Here's mine at 48 days from germination: Nice development at the cola. This one might be huge by comparison with my other autos.

Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

Hadn't thought of a screening fabric. I've been following the BT instructions, which are for a thorough soak of the plants, topside and bottomside. I've also inspected the buds closely for any sign of infestation. I did find one individual caterpillar (obviously a hatchling, since it was about a...

Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

Like you say, a bit pricey. I suppose if it allows you to create a population of nematodes that would handle the problem in the future, that might be worth the prices. However, BT is really just bacteria, so I don't think I'm poisoning anything.

Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

I'm told that the ruderalis genes in autoflowering cannabis is somewhat resistant to insects in its own right. So far I've been able to mostly control insect pests by locating my grow area in my garden, which attracts all sorts of predators -- spiders, ladybugs, beetles, mantises, etc. -- and...

Yeah! It's Bud Worm Season. Pics

I recently used BT on my grow area because of caterpillars eating my buds. I couldn't use a broad-spectrum insecticide because 1) of course you wouldn't and 2) I have a healthy ecosystem of beneficial insects in my grow area (aka my backyard) and I don't want to mess with them at all. BT seems...

Are they done yet? What does "done" look like?

Safe to say (and this is a question), not all strains will have the insane profusion of trichomes as in this example? By which I mean if my plant (let's say a Buddha White Dwarf auto) has 75% of the quantity of trichomes and a small fraction of them are turning amber, that would be the right...

    Paper bag dry method

And I was initially worried about that. But I have several factors in my favor. The buds my autos have produced so far, while able to deliver all the pleasure required, aren't so large that significant amounts of water can be trapped in them after washing. My technique also includes the use of a...

    Paper bag dry method

I haven't been able to measure. I will be getting a couple of hygrometers next week and will use them to refine my process. Now I simply examine the drying buds a couple of times a day by hand and jar 'em up when they seem just this side of the stems breaking when bent.

    Paper bag dry method

I wash my buds, so I have one day drip-drying in a box I made up, and then into paper bags. 7 days in the bag and then into jars. Will be trying the Boveda packs next. However, I should point out that I'm typically harvesting one rather small autoflower at a time (like 1-2 ounces when dried)...

Is this plant foxtailing/bolting? Should I care?

Yeah. I'm an amateur photographer, too (who isn't?) and so I'm really enjoying the closeups I'm getting — I mean, amethyst pistils? I may have to buy a new lens to get even closer.

Is this plant foxtailing/bolting? Should I care?

It's been warmish for Northern California, but not unduly. A temperature range of about 65–85°F over the last several weeks. Couple of spikes to 90°F some-odd.

Is this plant foxtailing/bolting? Should I care?

I have a Dinafem x Critical 1.0 autoflower in an outdoor setting, 5-gallon pot in Northern California. It's at about 70 days from germination, about 42 days from first flower. Seed bank doesn't list a flowering period for outside, but says indoors should be 60-65 days. My question is, what's...

    Budda seeds Syrup outdoor grow

I've only harvested three so far -- I started back in March -- and they were all auto Jack Herer x AK47s. I got mixed results: 1, 1.5, and 0.5 ounces, with that lowest one partly due to caterpillars. This is laughable from a professional grower's standpoint, but I can still produce more smoke...

Yep, that's the the jar labeled "My First Bud."

Is my plant dead? Help me revive it!

As for me, I've only ever grown autos (and not that many of them). So far I've stuck them in the ground, watered, cut them down some time later, smoked them, and gotten high. Notwithstanding the odd caterpillar or two, It didn't seem overly complex.

Found 2 nice seeds in an auto-fem Wild Thailand Ryder .

Unless the missus has been getting too friendly with the milkman, it should be female. Hermaphroditic flowers still only have female genes to draw on, so they produce a 'feminized' seed.

Day 21... starting to flower black jack auto.

I've never seen that before. If I were you, I'd look up a symptoms graphic (they're all over the place) to try to determine just what it is that's happening to your plants.

    Buddha Assorted What?

I got Buddha Seeds' Auto Assortment, where all the seeds are unidentified. They are supposed to include 4 of Buddha's stars: Red Dwarf, White Dwarf, Diemos, and Syrup. Making up the rest are "in the market later or experimental hybrids." Sounds like fun. So I have the below plant, outdoors in...
