    CFL Growth rate?

    General rule - use 6500k for veg. They don't grow very fast in height but if you let them go more than 1 month they will get bushy. Switch to these bulbs ASAP. When you switch to 12/12 for flowering, switch to the 2700k bulbs and they will begin stretching out before stopping to pack on bud...

    place to buy a red spectrum cfl bulb? tesco?

    Don't waste your money. For flowering, Great Value (Wal Mart brand) will work fine.

    Smell

    Since you have bagseed it's anyone's guess as to whether they will smell or not. I've had bagseed stink in veg and flower, and bagseed that only stink during the last 2 weeks of flower.

    A halogen bulb will probably burn out every 4-5 days if it doesn't burn down your house first.

    Tin Foil?

    Foil has worked fine for me, in a rubbermaid setup with 8 CFL's (26 watts each). I use the dull side out. I'm not sure where these ''burn'' rumors come from, and I've never seen photo evidence of such claims.

    Plant Distress

    This is the problem right here. Nute burn. Look at that deep green color & burnt tips. I'd flush and stop using that Miracle Gro crap. Get the pH back in line (6.2-6.8 ) by using this: Espoma Natural Gardening Solutions When 2 nodes of new growth come in, it will be pale green and you can...

    Which bulbs.

    Go with the Wal-Mart bulbs and spread them out. Bathroom light fixtures are cheap and bare sockets are even cheaper. Throw in a few Y-connectors. At least if one bulb goes out, you won't lose half your light source! Spreading out the light source is good if you want multiple plants, too.

    24 26w cfl on a single outlet

    Regular breakers are generally 20 amp which = 2200W. Provided his wiring is good, he's no worse off than some of you ghetto-ass Rubbermaid builders. Some of you guys with your wires half-spliced, duct-taped & run across the metal vents on the floors of your nasty trailers make me :wall...

    My First Grow with cfl's

    The only reason you'll want a green light is to inspect your buds during the 'dark' time. The plants can't do anything with that light as far as growth goes. Of course it may be cool to look at when you're blown. bongsmilie

    Advantage V. disadvantage CFL's

    It's half the price to buy 4 26W CFL's from Wal-Mart with some Y connectors, and then cram them all together. Same lumens, and probably takes up the same amount of space if you do it right. And when one burns out, you don't lose 100% of your light. :bigjoint:

    Only 1 main cola on all my plants?? following 'buds for less'

    Do you have any reflective material in there? It looks like the plants stretched out a bit. They look like indicas and should be really bushy. After 20 days in my box they are usually only 4-5 inches tall. Otherwise they look great. You'll have a couple massive nugs when all is said and done.

    Multiple small lights or 2 large ones??

    I'd stick with the smaller bulbs, only because they are a lot cheaper. Go to Wal-Mart and get everything. For veg use the GE 6500K daylight bulbs in the blue 2-packs. You can get a 6-pack of these for $20. 26 watts each. This should be plenty to veg 6-8 little guys to about 6-8 inches in...

    Best nutrients to use?

    This is what I use: 2 Cu. Ft. Flower and Vegetable Planting Mix Add coarse perlite at a ratio of about 1:4. For veg, ColorStar 19-13-6: ColorStar 19-13-6 A little bit goes a long way! Use 1/4 tsp every other watering and back off once leaves start turning deeper green. When new growth...

    Ultra stealth cfl** 300 true watts

    A big problem is those giant CFL's are too expensive. Anything over 26 watts starts getting way too costly. You can buy extra sockets, Y-connectors and multi-packs of 26W CFL's at Wal-Mart and jam them all in that box for the same light and less money. It's really not that bad of a box except...

    Just built the box

    Nothing's for sure. What's your electric rate per kWh? That's the key to the increase in cost. Without it, no one can tell you how much the increase is. The rest is 6th grade math that applies to everyone. Here is the forumula: Wattage divided by 1000 X hrs on per day X 30 days per month X...

    cfl= bad choice

    It's actually more surprising that people don't set their standards above bare minimum when it comes to grammar and spelling!! And who said anything about a prescription card? I smoke & drink beer for the same reasons everyone else here does... to get fucked up! These days with a real job &...

    First journal and grow, day 2 of seed

    Suggestion - use all 6500k CFLs for veg. Save the 2700k's for flowering, unless you're trying to make them stretch out.

    Just built the box

    Reflective tape is a lot like foil and it works fine. I saw a post on a competing forum where someone made a Rubbermaid+CFL tank. He used that foil tape made for sealing residential HVAC systems/ducting and it worked great. It's probably the most durable option out there. How many watts...

    CFL 1st time Grow Feedback Welcome!

    I use tap water + those expandable peat pellets and they germ seeds just fine. Our tap water is very hard and slightly acidic. The problem is putting too much water in those peat pellets. That will simply rot the seeds.

    cfl= bad choice

    Well in that case, CFL's suck if you're 'any real pothead.' :roll: I'm thankful it doesn't take very much to keep me happy.
