yes that was a typo the "," in the 2nd digit instead of third so yeah i forgot a zero. Thank you for pointing out my typo. I was refering to the 100,000 lumen bulbs I use and it degrades down to 80% of its orignal lumen your talking 80,000 lumen. With the cheaper bulbs that are 90,000 inital...

LOL hahaha he has 40,000 lumen of cfls at over 6000 lumen per sq ft at the moment and is going to add another 40,000 with a HPS lamp giving him 12000 lumen per sq ft or if he just used 1/2 of his cfls thats still 9,000 lumen per sq ft This is still tripple the amount of lumens per sq ft than...

    Multi-Strain 12/12 from seed...

Yeah well GKN, your next experment should include 2 or 3 weeks of veg cycle lighting so you can top them. Like I said I have had it work just fine at 2 weeks. You started at 12/12 ya may as well not change a thing and just let them do what they do and try it the other way next time if ya wish

Honestly your pictures dont look too bad at all really. Yeah you should get bigger and more dense bud with the HID lamp but by no means would you need to have the CFLs and HID in there at the same time that wont add much other than adding to the electric bill and you would have like 12,000...

40,000 lumen in 6sq ft is 6666 lumen per sq ft if the bulbs were new this is double what you really need and if your thinking its not quite enough there could be some other issue causing you to think this as this amount of lighting is more than a sufficient amount. When you make the switch a...

If this has helped then click the icon on the right hand side of screen (next to the post# of my post) that looks like a scale and add to my rep. If this is going to be just a 2 year thing then enough CFL bulbs to provide the proper lumens maybe the way to go and be less cash to fork out at...

    pro's and cons of lighting

You will want constant airflow through that cooled reflector when the lamp is on but yeah with the proper airflow its should be easy enough to fit that area with a 450w bulb.

Will I get better/faster growth of seedlings under 1000w mh or would 250w be ok

You would have 1044lumen per sq ft with the 250w and 5700 lumen per sq ft with the 1000w. You should have from 2000 to 3000 lumen per sq ft and for veg could get away with closer to the 2000. So with your choices you either dont have enough or you have total overkill. I suppose that I would...

    pro's and cons of lighting

I have grown with CFL's and to get enough lumens without having to have 30 or more light sockets for the longer lasting lower wattage CFL's I had to go with higher wattage bulbs that were only good for 8000hrs. Yes there are 8765 hours in a year but I thought we were talking about a bloom...

www.1000bulbs.com sells all kinds of bulbs and there webpage has all kinds of info about each bulb. This is a good webpage for info even if you buy your stuff locally. The 23w CFL's are listed as 12,000 hours and the 105W ones are 8,000 hours. A 600w Hid Bulb has an avg life of 24,000 hours...

When I played arround with this sort of thing I veg'ed them for 2 weeks under 18/6 lighting and topped them all once as soon as I was able to. Under 12/12 from seed yeah it may be differant however you may want to experment by pinching a top on 2 or 3 plants and see how they do for ya.

    electricity question

This is the question that needs answered. Sure if that 50ft cord is a big heavy duty 12guage or better then its pretty much as good as the wire inside your walls and I wouldnt see an issue. If its a cheap $2 cord thats thinner guage and your plugging in multiple HID lamp, and grow...

    electricity question

Technically this is correct.. Here is the math. Watts = amps x volts So 13amps X 120volts = 1560watts. and 77% of 1560 is indeed 1201.2. However take a look at at the warnings on aircompressers or A/C units and most do all contain warnings not to use extention cords on them. I could pretty...
