Straight choice? The metal halide. If your willing to swap out lights mid grow might be worth considering vegging with the MH, flowering with the HPS and getting some cfl's to go with the HPS. Kinda hard to say without more info (grow size, plant number etc. etc.)

I have had it happen, quite a while ago. Majority of pistils wilted. Plant continued to grow new ones and there didn't seem to be any real problem. I never Judge harvest time by general plant look, always by 40x Loupe. Smoked fine so didn't look into it, no harm no foul. No advice im afraid...

trim bud, reveg, flower again. the plant wont start reveging without a little persuasion. when i did it i simply changed the lighting schedule back and plenty of veg nutes. Having said that i don't personally think its worth it, on the two occasions I did it I found the results disappointing...

Mains to car cigarette lighter adapters are available, just be sure to check the amp rating on the cooler as this will have to correspond to the adapter. (different ratings available) A car charger is a very possible solution, only problem id point out there is finding one that's ok to run...
