trichs are the clear, cloudy or amber "crystals" that form on your buds and leaves. You usually won't be able to see the color of them without some kind of magnification.

yes, hydroponic plants grow much faster then in straight soil. The plant gets to take up as much water as it wants instead of relying on how much water is in the soil. The plant gets everything it needs and nothing it doesn't. Problems can be fixed quickly but can be devastating if not caught...

They look a bit hungry, start using a weak veg solution. I use Botnicare Pro Grow mixed a 1/4th strength for seedlings in soil, every 3ed watering. Also, what is you're technique for telling how dry the soil is? Looks like you might be overwatering.

I would suggest not sacrificing security for better growing conditions. You're lucky your plants can have sunlight. My ladies spend their whole lives locked in a closet and never get to see sunshine.
