Devil xxl auto are what I have have growing. They are massive yielders. I'm only going to top/fim 2 to see how they deal with it. This grow I'm doing is more experimental so no harm now fowl. You never know it may surprise me and double my yield

It is correct yes but if I'm honest I'd have them all running through the entire grow. More light the better. Obviously you control the plants life cycle via the dark hours in 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower. The more light you give them the stronger and bigger they will get.

30 square meters is a really big area. I'd put a 4x4 or 5x5 tent in the grow area and use a HPS 600w. The tents are reflective so you don't really need to worry about light spread. In a 4x4 or 5x5 grow tent you can easily grow 4 plants to there full potential. Environment is really important...

Just grow auto flowers then no need to worry about light leaks etc. They obviously can still hermie in other ways though like too cold or high temps.
