Some people gulp them down because they hate the taste so much. Not to get too graphic, but I've done that before and ended up passing partially digested material. Since then, I've made sure that I chew them up really good to make sure it is all absorbed.

No, this is the substrate. The casing was 50/50+.

This was adapted from a method I saw on shroomery.org. The substrate was: 1/2 brick of coco coir 12 pints of vermiculite 4 pints of brown rice flour 4 pints of bird seed 8 cups of water 2 tablespoons of lime This was enough for two of these tubs.

I suspect that the uneven flush is because the substrate was not mixed enough. But at this point, I'm curious how to go about preparing for a second flush.

Cool, that is something to consider for the next tub, this one obviously can't be retrofitted. I'll post another pic of the progress, they are moving along nicely.

I've seen this before and it seemed to have been caused from a lack of evaporation action. I did plenty of FAE and withheld misting for a while and that seemed to have caused the mycelium to knot up and start pinning.

Here is an update. The tub as it is seems to work okay. This is with no misting or fanning. It is only opened to check on the progress and to shake off excess condensation from the lid.

Thank you. The tek I was learning about was a mono tub method from shroomery.org that claims no misting or fanning is needed. That seemed strange to me, but I'm no pro so I withhold judgement.

I'd like an opinion on this fruiting chamber. Is this too much or too little ventilation? If it matters, the climate this is used in has high humidity and it will be used for monotub-tek.

I almost never get contamination using my current method but I was curious about this chemical because it is rinse free. I figured that since it is harmless to yeast fungus that it may also be harmless to PC.

It is about four weeks in. I know, I should be taking notes but with all my notes from brewing beer, inoculating jars, making spore syringes and making mushroom extract it completely slipped my mind.
