Uv to keep bacteria in check

I've seen people use those uv filters when starting in aquaculture. (basically hydroponics with fish). They work! superstoner has a point though. I think the UVB messes with chelating agends in your nutrients. Maybe that just means you'll have to change your res every week instead of every two...

Unusal appraoch for getting nitrogen to your plants

peepee has to go through nitrification to become a plant-available form of nitrogen. Meaning bacteria needs to be involved. If you run a sterile res, and add h202 or bleach, or anything of the sort, it's not going to happen. Why not just buy some calcium nitrate?

    ah fak

just putting it out there: if you feed reasonably you don't need a pH pen. Tons of people kill it without that stuff. if you do feed the need to use water meters: Bluelab is top of the line. Bluelab, bluelab, bluelab. if you're going to spend money on this type of equipment, don't buy something...

    What next?

contrary what nute companies want you to think, fertilizers merely give plants what they need to grow and flower. Your job with nutes is essentially to feed a plant what it needs without fucking anything up. Not trying to shit on your parade, just trying to save you time and money. If you've fed...

    Aurora Roots Organic-Big Swell

Dale: It's all just potassium and phosphorus. Once you average it with the ratios of other nutes and amounts of each nute added, they don't make a huge difference. Your best bet would be to ignore all the labels and marketing rhetoric, and simply judge a product by its NPK ratings. Buying a...

Please help newbie with fox farm nutrient chart for soil!!!

Daytona: Ignore fox farms feeding schedule. They're going to tell you to feed your plants much more nutrient than they need. Why? Because they want you to use more of their nutrients! More money for them. Grow big is the "veg" base formula and tiger bloom is the "flower" base formula. Now...

    My poor liver....

to the op: i only read the first post. this was so stupid that im not going to read the rest of the thread. A few points I'd like to raise: 1. You have open wounds in your mouth. WHY are you smoking? What part of combusting a plant and sucking the smoke into those bloody holes seems like a good...

GO is probably not your best bet in a hydro setup. I'd recommend a more synthetic line. Dynagro, original GH 3-part, something along those lines. just my .02.

    Thinking of switching nutes

You can switch anytime you'd like. Your plants don't know the difference between dynagro nitrate and foxfarm nitrate. I think the main differences between the two are: Foxfarm: Less complete as far as micros go. But they add wormcastings and kelp (there are lots of micros and hormones in kelp)...

    why nutes?

to the OP: There are some stupid answers being thrown around here. The majority of nutrients on the market are nothing more than salts, sugars, wormcastings, and kelp, all mixed in different ratios and put in a fancy bottle. Keep that in mind. Phosphorus is phosphorus. Despite what one...

    Fox Farm Big Bloom question

Hey man. Just a heads up to ya, big bloom isnt a base fertilizer, it's a supplement. Grow big and Tiger bloom are their base ferts. I think bigbloom is just kelp, worm castings, and maybe humic? It doesn't actually offer much nutritional value to the plant. That being said, FFOF is decently...

Is one 600 watt enough for a few trees?

the dual bulbs are essentially a 600w hps and a 400w mh. It's not the true output of either a 1000w mh or hps.

Is one 600 watt enough for a few trees?

From what I recall reading, most of the people who do trials with rotating say rotating isn't worth it. Personally, I just pruned shoots that weren't growing towards the light.
