I use a cheap three in one meter to check moister level and I only have to water every 3 days or so for my small pots and every 6 or so for larger pots. yeah both plain soil mix and jiffy pellets in soil...I like Jiffy pellets for cloning they hold moisture well and my veg room stays warm/hot so its good for me.
