    in addition to what this guy said you can harvest at multiple times, ex. my white widow had some under-developed buds below the main tops, i harvested them about 5 days after the main tops, in your case just take some at each stage of trichome development and see what you find best.

    the heat isnt what they use to identify the plant, although they do use infared, when the light wave from the sensor hits some ganja it shows up different on the scanner as opposed to other green leafs not exactly sure why though something to do with the composition of the leaf
