If you look closely at your own picture, you will notice that what you think is your leaves dying, is actually the seed-husk, still stuck to a leaf. Don't worry - it will fall off. I'm sure you can put your light a bit closer than 7 inches - like half of that. Relax.

I don't think so. The female will make 'male 'flowers - but it lacks male DNA, and the seeds will all be girls. Sounds to good to be true - but it's done to close to 100%

A gentle, yet quick method is 2" of water in a pot - to a boil. Put a dinner plate on top, and turn it down. Find a good spot to dry, toward the edges. One hour - two hours, constantly monitored.

You can grow a large plant in there. Make holes so it drains well, and if you get lots of roots in those openings, it's time for a bigger pot - but you have long way to go, in it's existing container.
