i dont think it will be much benefit ..also running less voltage like 250 watts to a 400 watt bulb causes spectral output changes , if it gives a certain spectrum at full power it is desighned to be run at full power, in my opinion the spectrum changes when run on less power...i beleive u can...

he talking about 3 or 4 lamp bulbs...the amps will not ever be a problem...
