    SuperSoil vs Organic Bottled Nutes

Another vote for no till method here. No point in buying bottles, they don't do anything special. I'm sure they work, they also cost a ton of money. I don't even recommend buying bottles for hydroponics... just paying for water really. Get the raw salts online and dissolve them yourself...

Forbes; Booming Pot Industry Is Draining the U.S. Energy Supply

We can have surplus energy. The rub is that we have to burn hydrocarbons in order to get that power in most parts of the country. More load on the power grid means more hydrocarbons are burned for energy. That's the real problem right now. Not to mention our aging decrepit infrastructure.

    3070's melted.

MX-4, and that's aiming for a .05mm thick layer of TIM. If you want to use a different paste you'll need to find the density of your desired TIM. It's usually listed on the package or on the manufactures website in units of grams per cm³ (g/cm³). MX-4 Happens to be 2.5 g/cm³. After that find...

Damn that wall got lit up. The panda film does a better job of showing off the light than the wood paneling :P

    3070's melted.

I've never tried the thermal pads, thermal paste has always treated me right. Done a few hundred cobs now, not thousands though. I apply my paste directly too the cob by weight. 1: Put cob in holder 2: Put cob+holder onto scale, then zero the scale. 3: Apply two thin, parallel lines of thermal...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

Well according to the paper the light flashes must be shorter than the dark period. Implying to me at least that there needs to be periods of total absence of light, not just reduced output. IE making it impossible to simulate the effects using a light mover or through the dimming wires of a...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

I believe it went from 100-50-100% dimming over an hour or half hour. Definitely not as quickly as in the paper linked by bob nor does it go to full darkness. However I do believe SDS referenced the same paper, or one similar too, it seems really familiar. Something to look into anyhow. Off to...

    Mau5Capades: builds & grow journal

@stardustsailor was working with this idea about a year or so ago. I wonder if he had any promising results from the experiment.

Is 6500k Cree CXA3590 too blue?

So it works, but how does it work compared to other CCT's? Any noticeable growth differences in plant development under 6500k vs 3000k or 5000k? Any better or worse than lower temp cobs?

Have any of you DIY COB Growers finished a crop under 1000W DE HPS? - POLL

You do know they make narrow angle reflectors and lenses to focus the light. Specifically for high mounting applications. It's simply a matter of matching up components. Though you are right, I haven't really seen anyone using narrow angle optics yet. Hmm, I wonder what's readily available now...

So tell me. What makes HID bulbs(of what ever flavor) better than cobs? I'd like for you to explain to me in detailed scientific terms what qualities that HID lighting has that the current generation of CXB chips from CREE does not. You're an authority on the subject. So it should be no issue.
