lol why does everyone say that? I started in hydro years ago, couldn't do dirt grow worth a shit. dwc is way easier than dirt. you cant change your dirt to correct the problem. however you can change your water to do so.

most of the alternatives are really cheap. rock wool, hydroton, coco fiber, ive even seen some who use lava rock.
