almost looks like it could be leaf miners. have you tried to look thru the leaf with light on other side? if it is "miners" that would show the worms in the leaf. also look at the underside of the leaf for insects..

If it isn't the stems skin cracking from growing larger, then it is most likely salts build-up. Try flushing the system with PH neutral water, Reverse Osmosis or Distilled would be best due to the lower PPM levels.
