    vinegar is pH down and baking soda is pH up :) dunno about distilled water... i cant be bothered with the expense or pain unless i am using well water or something equally grody :D

    baking soda and vinegar are the common and most recommended pH up and down DIY additives. couple drops tends to work for a gallon or two... but the solutions vary soooo much the only way you can tell is to mix up a few trial batches and see what you get.     i concur with Grn completely. minor addition about nutes... the yellowing could be due to either the pH or not a strong enough nute solution fix that pH before you do any adjusting to the nutes though.

    6.8 is the high side for soil growing pH. you want to drop it down to between there and 6.4. seems like such a minor difference but if you look at the charts for nute absorption you will see that 6.8 is actually a bit high for a couple of trace elements. BTW, the GrowFAQ here is better for...

    pH is a HUGE deal with the grows... make it a priority to learn the tester. as for figuring your watering schedule... during the grow, the easiest way to figure out just how long it takes for your soil to dry out is stop watering till the leaves droop. the plant will tell you when it needs...
