Though, in multiple plant hydroponic setups, clones are the better choice. Phenotypes are nothing to gamble on when forced to feed your plants on the same nute schedule.

I never said many growers' darkness practice doesn't work. It's just that if I had to harvest three weeks early, I would lean towards bud production/yield and give them heavy light; this would be my approach.

Forget the dark period, give them light until you harvest.

If the root is white and looks firm, I think they'll be okay. Also, if a few have enough root, you could transfer them to your medium now.

I agree, looks older than 1 week; all strains I clone take 10 - 15 days and hardly lose one leaf in that time frame, and I call them ready when roots are 2 - 4".

I think you are referencing cotyledon when you mention ''down leaves''. If you are saying that you have only 1 leaf appearing where the plant's first true set comes in, don't panic; I've seen all sorts of weird seedlings recover - just give it a proper environment for better chance of success.
