My first grow is from seed, and while I cannot comment on the "hit n' miss" I can say that it takes less time to grow from clones and is less expensive in the long run for me. My current set of clones are 50%+ bigger at 1 month than my seeds where. Veg, Clone, Flower - Rinse and repeat.

Looking good so far. Are you going to use that shelf as a scrog? Doing this for my next grow, but building my own screen.

Rule of thumb when watering, stick you finger in the soil about about an inch. If the soil sticks to your fingers you don't have to water.
