large trim extraction, I WANT GOLD :D

FD stupid question here but why do non-polar solvents extract THC-A when it is polar? Am I wrong? or is it only partially polar? BTW I saw that the Skunkparm website had a subzero extraction pic and it looked very nice. I think you are on to something there. Do you have any plans to do a full...

    winterizing

If you cool the alcohol you are at risk of it imploding not exploding. No need to worry though.. . It has been done many times with no breakage. If anything be carefull that it does not heat up too quickly because the glass can break from extreme temperature differences. Unless its pyrex. Has...

Purging bho without using a vac chamber

spread as thin as you can and put it in the microwave on power low for a minute or two. Take it out let it cool and repeat until your satisfied. I don't know what that white powder shit is in that pic, but it is not something you want.

    Bho and mold

You don't need fancy lab equipment. All you need to do is check it with a black light, if no glow then dissolve your BHO in some alcohol and run it through syringe filters. Im not sure if there is a specific wavelength. Fadedawg should be able to fill us in on that.

You can illuminate it with a black light and the Aspergillus will glow right?

Isolating Terpenoids / Re-introduction to finished extracts

So the amount of terpenes present in the vapor or smoke of fresh natural cannabis is sort of the concentration limit before it becomes too harsh or nasty tasting? Or does this only apply to the monoterpenes? I know that not heating the vaporizer to a hot enough temp will produce a huge...

Does the THC molecule differ from strain to strain? What cause the different "high"s?

Terpenes! Indica varieties are not sedating because of more CBD or CBG but more so because of the terpenes that are produced within that specific chemotype. The opposite is true of sativas in that they do not produce a sedative effect because of less CBD/CBG but because the specific phenotypes...

Isolating Terpenoids / Re-introduction to finished extracts

Hmmm. So the monoterpenes are chiefly responsible for the scent characteristics. Makes sense since they have higher vapor pressure, but would you happen to know how some of the heavier terpenes with a smaller % of total vapor pressure effect the scent? I'm guessing the skunk smell is a thiol and...

top 3 solvents excluding butane and why

n-hexane is probably the worst solvent as far as health concerns. Use of any other completely non-polar solvent will produce similar results to BHO. If you're getting reagent grade then get n-pentane. Even BHO has a shit ton of variability so its not gonna be perfect, but work on it and get...

top 3 solvents excluding butane and why

Here is my quote ""Use n-heptane as hexane is being phased out in pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is liquid at room temp. A little harder to evaporate but shouldn't be a problem."I said use n-heptane. Reread. There is no n-hexane in acetone, sorry if I made that typo. Its in naphtha.

I agree I don't know why you are arguing against it. Did I say that CO2 was the best method somewhere? Ok well I meant that in regards to the purpose of oil extraction they are the same. They are both miscible in water have relatively the same BP and VP. Thats what Im saying don't use...

You will get the same results as hexane. If you want a very light yellow I cannot guarantee that, as even BHO is amber/brown. It helps if you have material that is picked earlier in the ripening process.

Yeah you should spend much more time reading a book. Your are not the sharpest tool in the shed sir. You are the same person who thought CO2 was polar. Stop talking garbage and look it up. I agreed it only applies to n-hexane. OP uses acetone and he asked about it. Acetone is oxidized...

top 3 solvents excluding butane and why

Qwizo pointed out that you can use pentane and hexane but not n-hexane and he is absolutely right. Unfortunately naptha has n-hexane mixed in so that's no good. N-heptane will produce very similar results but does take longer to completely purge. It is not too different from isopropyl alcohol in...

top 3 solvents excluding butane and why

I didn't mean it like you'll get cancer if you use it, just that certain people are really concerned (too much imo) about using anything that is even remotely carcinogenic. Danger is in the dosage, and you are absolutely right in that it only applies to n-hexane, but n-hexane is in acetone. Yeah...

    oil/water emulsion please help!

Sir you are wrong. Isopropyl alcohol is not denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol is methylated ethanol, not isopropyl. I like wiki because its quick and easy, its also very highly reliable for scientific based information. Notice that it listed isopropyl as an additive. Denatured alcohol and...
