If you or a friend has a dishwasher I'd highly recommend cleaning them that way. The water in a dishwasher goes up to about 75°C and there's no way you're doing that in your sink ;)

Can you not run a cable outside? Batteries would make it difficult.

I've enjoyed looking through what I've seen so far in this thread. It's great to see someone truly enjoying not only the grow but the setup too, It's also nice when a grower puts a lot of time and effort into their product. I especially like the three pc fans that will blow air up through...

Algae needs light to grow. Don't give it any light and it won't grow. A lightproof reservoir will stop this happening. (wondered why all the tubing is generally black?)
