I haven't done that but I have started the seeds in wet paper towels, germinated them and put the sprouts right into the perlite. I think you may dislodge the seed by watering if you put it directly in there, I don't know.

The smallest screen in my bubble bag set is 25 micron but I get very little from that screen. I get the most heads from the 75 micron bag and toss the stuff from the 120 bag so I would say 90 would be a good size.
