Depends on the plant and other variables. if you have nutes already in the soil and it has too much light focused on it, it will burn.

be careful with the light and nutes bro. nutes + too much HPS = burn. and not the good burn.

Its because of the lights. Try repos'ing it to where the lights are back slightly further. I dont remember cfls getting as hot, however they seem to close and if you them back you maybe able to stablize it out before any real dmg is done.
