cuz i was thinking about maybe starting a grow now but i dont want to wast

I live in cali, btw, and I know that late April is the best time to plant, but what if I tried to plant totally out of season, like now or in August? What would happen? Would the plant die? Would it just give a shittier yield? Has anyone tried this?

BTW does anyone know what type of plant it is? or best guess...
