I am not an expert but wasn't the whole point of using a medium like hydroton was to help direct oxygen to the roots as the water pumps back out? Yes I hate hydroton but I also hate how much water rock wool holds.

If you figure out the reason why people lollipop their plants, then its easy to figure out. I keep seeing people wanting to FIM, top, LST, lollipop, supercrop etc just cause you hear it all the time. Something that works well for one person might not be the best thing for you.

Depends on many factors but i find them both to stress the plants. Other than some random fan leaves or pruning, I learned not to top or fim a plant now. Its just my personal preference.

Which digital ballast are you running that you claim is 100% silent? in my room, the loudest thing is the quantum 1000w ballast. Yes louder than the inline fan. And no my ballast is not broken. I have 2 and they are both not silent. The fans inside are loud.

I am having a hard time figuring what you did with the filter/scrubber connected to a inline fan then connected to your hoods. How does that work? Is the inline sucking air away from the filter so its actually pushing air through your hoods? If thats the case, why not put the fan at the end...

Well I gotta disagree here. They are not silent. Maybe quieter than magnetic but they do generate more noise than I was expecting.

I am going to try out the STG Hail in combination with some hydroton and rockwool. Can't get away from rockwool until I get my own clones going without them. Clone in 1" rockwool + hydroton in a 5" netpot DWC, then transplant the whole pot into the Ebb and Grow filled with STG Hail.
