I'll offer my 0.02 I have used only HPS for both vegging and flowering and had decent results. I now use MH vor veg and HPS for flowering with great results. The MH does make a difference. The plant grows lusher and is more compact.

i have done that outdoors before. Indoors, if you have a strong enough light, it shouldn't matter. But if you don't have a big strong light, then you can chop off ONLY the ones that are DEFINITELY done. Then leave the smaller ones for another week or two.

i wouldn't do it. this runs contrary to nature. when it does that, then you have problems. i think that 2 weeks is plenty of time to develop little beaners in your plant. they may not be hard brown ones, but maybe those soft white immature ones. why risk it? that's what bloom enhancers are for.
