BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Thanks for the advice. I have read from other sources also that the more (non THC) plant matter gets into your concentrate, the gooier it gets. I tried making a batch with ground up weed and it was not glassy at room temperature at all. By the way, welcome to RIU.

t-5 for veg. how many do i need?

If you are using a 150w HPS for flowering you most likely need less than 150w of lighting for veg. The advantage t5 offers over HID is a very even distribution of light, because you are using multiple sources of weaker light vs one stronger source of light. This allows you to put the t5s much...

    Clone size?

Given enough time the clone can grow bigger than the mother. Generally if you want to grow your clone to be as big as your mother is right now, then yes it will take about as long as it would if you began from seed.

Crooked/Loose branches after putting in plastic bag

Try to fix the structure of the plant. I use toothpicks of varying length as splints and wrap with some scotch tape. Try to get it tight so that water can still travel up the once-snapped stems. Using this method of repair I have even been able to save stems that have been completely snapped...

Plant dried up before flowering ....PLEASE HELP!!

If there is no more leaf matter on the plant then you need to either start over, or veg the plants out until they have enough foliage before you flip to 12/12.

    250 Watt HPS or HID

If temperatures are your concern then you either have to lower the wattage, or increase your cooling. If you are willing to switch to fluorescent lighting, 250watts may generate less heat.

    Mixing trimmings with soil

I believe for this to be effective you need some kind of beneficial bacteria, like maybe Great White or something.

Tired of people say MG is not for Cannabis. I'm going to shut all of you up.

Personally I use Dyna-Gro Foilage Pro which has an NPK of 9-3-6, which is basically just like MG's all purpose plant food (24-8-16), because the ratio of NPK is 3-1-2. The big difference is the N in MG is mainly from urea nitrogen, but I'm not sure about the implications of this. Either way...

How safe is it really to grow? Any experiences

I know this is a very late reply but I have to advise against having dogs as protection. Regularly being around an outdoor dog is a dangerous avenue of transmission for pests that can potentially end your grow. This has happened to me a few times, so my opinion is that just being quiet about...

BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Did an extraction run with trim and popcorn buds (frozen for 24 hours right after trimming) Submerged all into liquid butane 900 mL of liquid butane boiling off at ~70F. I sped it up by placing this container into a pot of hot water (if you want to try this at home do it outside) After...

BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Thank you for your kind words. I'm still learning too. For some reason though with this process, the resulting concentrate is always the same color for me. Even when I use fresh bud that has been unground! Is grinding the bud supposed to increase extraction rate while sacrificing purity of final...

BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Aaah, I see. Do you have any ideas on why fresh product yields more extract than product that has been in storage for a while? I just made concentrate from the sticky stuff on my fingers while trimming 500g wet, it was insane. I yielded 0.6grams of concentrate. (Just washing my fingers with...

BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Your nug total yielded 35% of its 7g dry weight in concentrate? I think that is a clear indication that the process is picking up a lot more than just THC or THCa. Did u notice any difference in potency between your first run crumbly stuff vs the golden goo? My "glassiest" products yet are the...

BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Do you know what causes the variations? First run/subsequent runs? Flowers/trim? Ground/Unground, Fresh/Dried, etc? My results so far indicate not grinding helps a lot to achieve more glassy consistency. I also read using fresh-frozen trim yields glassier product, which I will try soon. I...

BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Input weight approx 7g, final yield about 0.8g. Not a great return, but this was just first run. I have done frozen blast tube with frozen butane, but I used ground up flowers. I was just playing with a different method this time. Whats annoying about the blast tube method to me is constantly...

BHO + ethanol Solvent "Glass" Concentrate

Today's batch was made from unground Banana Kush flowers. I used a contaminated razor to collect it, otherwise it would have been much more pure looking. The impurities are actually visible as specs. Unfortunately this stuff still won't shatter at room temperature, but it will shatter when cold...

Yellowing on middle leaves, new growth greener (flower day 20)

After turning down the watering schedule, the plants do look a bit better. I got a closer look at one of the yellowing leaves displaying the most severe symptoms. Anybody know what the deal with those spots are?:-|

How Do You Grow a Plant with scrog screen?

Sry, I forgot to mention for feeding, I got home depot 1/4 inch tubing and pressure compensated drippers (the drippers are less than $1 each, and the tubing is 50 ft for about $5), and feed through that. I do additive feedings by hand with a soda bottle that I drilled holes into (to squirt into...

How Do You Grow a Plant with scrog screen?

This is how I did it I just made a square out of wood, and then used wire line to make a grid. When the plant tries to grow up over the grid, tuck it down against one of the supports. The wooden frame + grid can even rest on top of the plants (as long as it doesn't break the plants)
