    To create a star...

very good info. I hope the thread continues to grow. Of course, it makes sense that plants would have evolved to best utilize the most abundant spectra (H and He). now if we can just get good spectrum data on various bulbs, we can carry it further and see how they mimic the sun and their...

    28 Days Fowering Bagseed CFL's

I think you are right about not being able to add and divide the individual bulbs. an average does not mean that you are only getting that part of the spectrum. however, I think having 2 different spectra does mean you will get more of the middle part than either one alone. I'm thinking...

    28 Days Fowering Bagseed CFL's

that's why I supplement my 6500K with a few 2700K (3 to 1 ratio). my average ends up about 5550K. of course, to be really scientific instead of taking the manufacturer's word for it I should get a device and measure the actual spectrum from the bulb, but that might be overkill :-)

    28 Days Fowering Bagseed CFL's

lando most CFLs come in two temps (that's the 'K' thingy). "daylight" or "cool" are usually 6500K (good for cloning and vegging) "soft white" or "warm" are usually 2700K (good for flowering) I had to visit the manufacturers web site to determine mine since it wasn't on the package. you can...

    My New Setup

"soft white" is usually 2700K, i.e. warm bulb. this is the red end of the spectrum and best for flowering. "cool" or "daylight" bulbs are usually around 6500K. not so good for flowering, but good for vegging (some say to mix in a few warm bulbs too for vegging, but ymmv). I had to go to the...

    co2.. and flowering

thanks, I thought it'd be cheaper. so dry ice is about $3 per day, while the machine is about $1.50 per day. hmm, I could run one bucket and pipe it to 2 separate small cabinets. the big question is if the yield increase is worth the cost. a lot of folks seem to think so.

How To LST (Low Stress Training)

fantastic drawings! It really inspired me to use it in my next small grow (my first real one since the current effort is almost comical). this method could be called SPROG (SPiRal Of Green) :-) Question: do you think a 10" pot is the optimum size for one plant? cause I was thinking of going...

On Global Warming - 16,000 scientistS agree ...

of course it's bunk. global warming exists (although man has not a bit of effect on it one way or the other), but look at who benefits from the global warming hysteria - leftist politicians and the NGOs they fund. Al Gore makes a ton of money and gets an Oscar even as he travels around in his...

    My Very First Grow

dude your plants look mighty fine! thanks for the journal, I am starting my first plants in over 25 years (old-timer) but I thought it would take me 2 or 3 tries before I could get results like yours. maybe I will get lucky and get it right first try :-)
