would one 250w hps light be ok for 2-3 plants? possibly more if it was supplemented with extra fluorescent?

Growing under two 4' fluoros that each put out 3200 lumens. I"m planning on growing only 2-3 plants. Would a 250w hps do much better? Thanks for any help.

So this is my first real grow, and as i'm not expecting a whole lot, here's what i got. Two 4' fluoros that each put out 3200 lumens, and i try to keep the plants 2-4 inches from the lights. plants are potted in scotts potting soil. I use plant food once or twice a week. They're in a basement...
