Wash those two plants off with clean water. Soak them down really good, they will dry out. I've had to do this before and it helps. Get as much pollen off as possible....

in the summer, when the furnace is not being used, don't you think the sun beating on the roof will raise the temps?? I know around here, during summer, roofs get FREAKING hot!! That flir won't matter...

It works. Chimney creats a natural draw up through the hole. if you are worried about affecting the furnace, put a damper between the furnace and chimney(should have one anyways)and your good to go...its science...you also rid the room of smells safely. I freakin do it...

you can connect the exhaust from both rooms into the chimney, yes. don't worry about flir, many homes heat water with their house furnace,in the summer as well, heat is supposed to come out the chimney...many homes have gas operated hot water heaters that need venting...some homes even have...
